“In photography, there are no shadows that cannot be illuminated.” — August Sander

What are lifestyle photos?

The snippets from huge moments to little ones, in a person’s life. These are mostly candid and of all the people around! For anyone who wants to pursue a style of commercial photography, you should be aware of the different types of photography fields that come underneath.

Commercial photography or lifestyle photography has the following sub-fields and almost correlate to each other. These different fields of photography are a great source of income.

  1. Street Photography
  2. Wedding Photography
  3. Food Photography
  4. Product Photography
  5. Still-life Photography
  6. Abstract Photography
  7. Monochrome photography

Let us learn a bit more about them.

Street photography:

For anyone who is new to photography as a profession and wants to practice their skills, should take up street photography as their specialization in the field of photography. This field of lifestyle photography allows you to capture the life of the movement in time of a particular setting.

It could be clicking pictures at a small garden, a busy market, or a huge amusement park! You can find your subject or your location anywhere you go. It moves with you. Now to make it even better, you can play with your surroundings and the situations. You can be a bit more observant and shoot some fascinating photographs.

Wedding photography:

For some people, their weddings are the best days of their lives. Wedding photography is a huge deal when we talk about event photography. It is one of the most trending upbeat fields of photography in recent times.

All you need is the right sense of equipment, a lot of practice, preparation, and great technical knowledge. You can make up a small team for yourself and make a career out of this in no time.

Food photography:

Are you an aspiring food blogger? Or do you generally find joy in clicking pictures of mouth-watering food dishes? This passion of yours mixed with a little practice can make you bag your own commercial gigs!

You get to make catalogs and click for websites or restaurants with a brand name you made for yourself. You can further license out your work as stock images and grow a social media presence. For us, this is a win-win situation!

Product photography:

Anything and everything can be photographed. Jewelry, to stationery, to sneakers or sports gear. Different brands need different photographers for their products. With everything moving online, product photography has been rising tremendously as a field of photography at the time of the pandemic.

All you need to do is pick up some light gear, and good backgrounds that you can carry around. The rest is created after the post-processing magic.

Still life photography:

This genre is a more artistic approach. This field of photography is pretty self-explanatory. It includes clicking pictures of objects that are inanimate. Like fruit baskets, coffee beans, or items that have to be sold to an audience.

This category is pretty vast and leads along the same lines of food and product photography fields.

Some other widely used different fields of photography:

Abstract photography:

This genre is all about the zoom view. You can focus in or out of an aerial shoot for example and click away from the striking features like an open crack on a road near a valley.

Monochrome photography:

An evergreen field of photography that is always there to surprise you. From newbies to very professional artists, monochrome never gets out of style. You need the right observation to bring out your subject, and know what compositions to have the focus on without any color being a distraction.

Simple, and the very best.

There are many more different fields of photography but for us, these are something that the team is passionate about. Let us know which types of photography genres do you like or would want to try?
