It is only poetic that the place where cinematographers and photographers go to make their dreams come true is the best place to capture beauty and precision in your amateur camera.
With its second edition of the WPC Travelogue Series, we bring to you details of what places to shoot and capture (only in your camera) when you’re in LA.
In continuation of our founder M. Anurag Mathur’s pictorial travelogue, we bring to you some of his pictures to convey the ideal shooting locations in LA.
SANTA MONICA
This coastal city, west of downtown LA, is home to beauty, nature and happiness. The Santa Monica beaches are a hub of excitement and fun, a place where you can capture magical moments with just a click. Decorated with scenic views of the grand Pacific Ocean, the beautiful Santa Monica houses the Pacific Amusement Park where you can click pictures of children and their families, in merriment. It’s not just scenic panoramas that Santa Monica offers you, you can also shoot at the historic Looff Hippodrome Carousel and Santa Monica Pier Aquarium to create different and amazing portfolios.
THE GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY
The following photos are taken from the famous Griffith Observatory, encompassing the humongous Hollywood Sign and the picturesque panorama. The Griffith Observatory is a facility perched on the south slope of Mount Hollywood and is renowned as one of the most visited landmarks in South California. For every photographer, this place is a must-see, because it has in store, beautiful opportunities to click panoramas, portraits and landscapes. The Griffith Observatory offers you wow moments for you and your camera, with a view of the Los Angeles Basin, including the Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest and the Hollywood to the south. VENICE
Every photographer wants to be unique and break all cliches. The place that provides you with a chance to click an array of vibrant and fun pictures that are never the same, is Venice! Venice is a residential area in LA, with recreational activities and architectural wonderment. Be it the vast canals, the sandy beaches, the wide boardwalks and the fun skateboards, every corner of Venice is a moment waiting to be captured in your camera.
If you want to seize culture, vibrancy and enjoyment in a flash, one of the best places to visit is the Venice Ocean Front Walk. You can shoot a range of scenes here, be it the serenity and grandeur of the blue ocean or be it the colourful joy and laughter of the people who are engaged in various amusing hobbies.
The 2009 Venice Beach Skatepark is another such happening place you should visit with your camera. Sporting a variety of street skateboarding activities, this park is a vastness spread to 16000 sq ft.
Apart from the hep culture and the trendy activities, Venice is also renowned for its architectural magnificence.
THE UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
Every Hollywood fan’s dream tour includes a trip to the Universal Studios in Los Angeles. For a travelling photographer, it is a significant part of their LA portfolio, to click a few snaps around the Universal Studios. Be it the hush-hush excitement around the film studio, or the expressions of joy and bewilderment that you see in the famous theme park, every moment is worth capturing in your camera.
THE HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD
A hub of cultural and mystical vivacity, the Hollywood Boulevard is another jewel you want for your portfolio. the cinematic heritage that reflects in the TLC Chinese Theatre, the prestige of the Wall of fame and the magnificence of the Hollywood Wax Museum, every location is a must-visit for your LA shoot. You can also visit the Kodak Theatre for more artful pictures.
