So, you love listening to music, music festivals are your events to attend and you are planning to choose photography as your career. You have landed right on the money with this blog as we will touch upon the avenues and tips you would need to become the best music photographer.

There is a huge demand:

If you have the creative skills to intertwine the picture and the music, you would be adored by the industry. There is a surging need for photographers who are able to understand the vision of musicians, convey,  and capture the essence of their emotions through their lens.

Endless avenues for you to start your journey:

Musicians are always in dire need of photographers for their album art, live shows, video shoots, and promotional pictures. While having industry connections would give you a far better push to kickstart your journey, if you are a photographer building from scratch, the possibility for you to grow is still insane and humungous.

Do it for free?

It might hurt you initially to not get paid for the work that you would put in. Gears, lenses, and cameras cost a lot of money but as you work, you would gain experience. Trust us when we say that experience goes a far long way than waiting on your first paid project. With experimentation comes great experience and networking is the key. As you work for free initially, you would build a portfolio for yourself. Youn would understand the market demand and hence would be able to deliver a product to your paid clients who would become your recurring customers.

Experimentation will take you a long way:

True artists, you yourself love experimentation, right? RIGHT! If you play it safe or in the ballpark of tried and tested methods, you would only get the tried and tested results. How do you become the best then? By learning the rules and basics first and thereafter breaking them to figure out your artistic flavour and idiosyncrasy. Experimentation will take you a very long way, and help you create your ‘brand’ as the ‘best’ music photographer.

Believe in your craft and the world shall believe in you:

No word of a lie, experimentation might also not be believed in. Better said, it takes time for people to embrace changes and so would be with your craft. In this period of others not believing in you, you would have to believe in yourself and be your own biggest fan. Your work would find the audience and appraisal that it seeks. Your vision would be understood by the biggest of the musicians. The process of becoming the best music photographer would begin when you truly start believing in yourself.

As you set your sail to conquer the world of music through your artistic lens flare, be sure that you are bound to achieve a lot with time, consistency and perseverance. Time, consistency and perseverance would be your key ingredients in the recipe for becoming a photography legend in the realm of music.

See you on the other side!
