This lens is bigger than usual. The company has not revealed its lens mount yet. The weight is approximately 1.72 kg or 3.79lb. As per the latest reports, the focal length and aperture of the new lens will be 80mm and f/6.3 to f/19 respectively. It also provides a virtual aperture that works at a distance from 50cm to infinity.

9 Perspectives

The lens casts 9 perspectives of a single scene together on the camera sensor. There is a system of mirrors that segregates light into 9 parts to achieve this purpose. When you see it, you will feel like nine different cameras, placed at a position with nine separate angles, have captured the scene. Each image takes up one-ninth of the sensor area and it will be shown in a 3×3 grid. Though you might think that it will decrease the resolution, reducing it to 1/9th of the original resolution, helps in post-processing. You can take this arrangement as that of a kaleidoscope. A five-inch monitor will also be there for you to show only the original, central image.

DeepSea Software

When you click an image or a video with the new K|Lens one, you will get much more data than what you get while using any other lens. These include enriched data in point clouds, depth information, and as mentioned earlier, nine different perspectives. These rich light field data make the lens unique, and worth buying. The data received by the new  K|Lens lens comes with specialized software called DeepSea that will help you to edit in-depth, refocus, pull focus, enhance the depth of field, and Segmentify. With this software, you could see the original image in both RAW and JPEG and the aforementioned 9 images with moderately different angles in JPEG format only.

As the company claims, K|Lens One photos and videos are a perfect match for all 3D displays, taking stereo, holographic, or light fields into consideration. In addition, light-field content can be integrated into web applications to provide a vivid and living user experience. Not only that, but users will also have access to multiple perspectives of their scenes to always create. The new K|Lens lens will come with the installed software mentioned above. It will launch on 29th November on Kickstarter. Though the price has been set at 4,099 dollars, it will be available at nearly half a price, i.e. 2,049 dollars during the launch. As the company stated, the finished lens will be delivered in 2022.
